The Whoopi Goldberg War Room™ is now monitoring the Saturday skies above the Hot Topics table, as the Oscar-winning actress just kicked off The Weekend View by yelling for cohost Sara Haines to descend from her perch atop what can only be described as The View‘s version of the tower of Barad-dûr from The Lord of the Rings.

Instead of Goldberg setting her sights on the typical unknown entities floating overhead in The View‘s airspace, Saturday’s edition of the pre-taped View spinoff began with her fixating on Haines, who took her place on a giant structure that menacingly looms above the show’s new season 28 set and seemingly serves no functional purpose in its daily operations.

“The Weekend View starts right now,” Haines said to the audience from what appeared to be approximately 1,000 feet in the air, while the camera cut to Goldberg, who previously climbed the monolithic construction to begin the show in the past, shouting, “Get your ass down here right now!”

Haines then descended the staircase to greet audience members, high-fiving the enthusiastic crowd before she turned to jog toward the table — where she was hilariously met by Goldberg, who’d left her own moderator seat to stand in Haines’ path toward the Hot Topics table. Haines turned around and ran the other way before rejoining the ladies at the table.

Goldberg rarely appears on The View for the entire week, as she typically has Fridays off, but due to the debut of her fellow panelist Joy Behar‘s new play, My First Ex-Husband, the Ghost star pulled double duty, popping up on both Friday’s broadcast and on the pre-taped Weekend View edition.

“I’m here to sit in so she can have some rest before she goes back on tonight,” Goldberg told the audience.

The Weekend View launched earlier this year as an expanded edition of the daily talk show, broadening The View‘s scope to broadcast every day of the week.
