- Kyle Allen is now starring as Brad Ackerman in Netflix’s The Life List.
- Audiences may have seen him before in Rosaline, A Haunting in Venice, and The Path.
- His performance in The Life List primes him to be the internet’s next romantic obsession, a.k.a. the “internet boyfriend.”
2025 is in need of a newly anointed internet boyfriend.
While the last few years saw the likes of Nicholas Galitzine and Harris Dickinson ascend to the ranks of the internet’s boyfriends, it’s time for an All-American grade-A hunk to enter the chat — and we think it should be Kyle Allen.
No, not the Detroit Lions quarterback (although, hi), but the actor now playing one-third of a love triangle in Netflix’s The Life List. Allen stars as Bradley Ackerman, a lawyer overseeing Elizabeth’s (Connie Britton) estate. After reading the will, his main responsibility is to shepherd Elizabeth’s daughter, Alex (Sofia Carson), through the completion of her “life list” by the new year so that she can claim her inheritance. And wouldn’t you know it, finding true love is one of the items on the list.

Allen is charming and goofy as Brad, a warm and funny foil to Sebastian de Souza’s pretentious intellectual, Garrett. Not only does Brad go the extra mile to help Alex complete her list, but he ensures she has fun doing it — dancing with her to the Ting Ting’s “That’s Not My Name,” shopping for ties, and generally being a supportive, golden retriever of a human. Allen and Carson have a potent chemistry, but he’s also so winsome that one suspects he may be one of those people who could have chemistry with a mop.
This isn’t Allen’s first breakout. The 30-year-old got his start in television with a leading role in Hulu’s The Path and a supporting part on American Horror Story: Apocalypse. Allen has a background in ballet (that’s right, ladies, he’s a dancer!), which he employed as a member of the Jets in Steven Spielberg’s 2021 adaptation of West Side Story.

Born in Livermore, Calif., Allen started his training as a performer in acrobatics, competing at the junior national level before moving to ballet and training at the Kirov Academy in Washington, D.C. But an injury following his time there led him to pursue acting as a way to pay the bills while he healed. It soon blossomed into a full-time career.
In 2021, he graduated to more romantic roles as Romeo in a comedic twist on Romeo and Juliet, Rosaline, for which his longer hair and strong jawline earned him comparisons to Heath Ledger. And now, we can’t keep our eyes off of him.

Allen also went European for A Haunting in Venice, playing French chef, Maxime Gerard, the ex-fiance of the late Alicia Drake, whose death Hercule Poirot (Kenneth Branagh) ends up investigating when the detective’s attendance at a seance takes a deadly turn.
But neither of those roles were true romantic leads, playing second fiddle to other narrative arcs. With The Life List, Allen proves he’s got the stuff to be a true Hollywood leading man (and the sensitivity to earn the coveted moniker of “internet boyfriend,” who must not only be attractive but also authentic and extremely willing to make fun of himself).

Brad is a character tailor-made for that — his wavy mop of hair is charming but messy; he spills food on his ties (relatable); and he helps Alex without her asking (finding her a lead on a teaching job, hiring a private investigator, etc.). He really seals the deal with his wild hotel bar dancing and the way he delivers the line, “Every time I see you, you dazzle me.” SWOON.
Netflix romances are an ideal launching pad for internet boyfriends — just ask Glen Powell. Powell won hearts in Set It Up as Charlie, a put-upon corporate executive assistant who ends up falling for his partner-in-crime, Harper (Zoey Deutch). From there, Powell moved into higher profile supporting roles (Top Gun: Maverick anyone?) before ascending to full leading man status and winning the moniker of “internet boyfriend” thanks to his swoon-inducing relationship with his rescue dog, Brisket, and his willingness to be the butt of a joke.

With The Life List, Allen has laid the foundation for a similar path to success. He’s got a unique backstory — acrobat turned ballet dancer — that also gives him skills he can use onscreen: a crooked grin to melt hearts and the ability to believably play a romantic leading man.
We’ll be shocked if he doesn’t end up on casting directors’ shortlists from here on out, but he’s already on the list of internet boyfriends in our hearts.
