Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon’s Collaboration Was a Long Time Coming
Both Ferrell and Witherspoon have cemented themselves as giants of the comedy genre. While Ferrell has mostly starred in comedies, the romantic subgenre is Witherspoon’s specialty. However, the two haven’t gotten a chance to share the screen until Amazon MGM Studios’ You’re Cordially Invited. However, the two have a long history.
Reese Witherspoon was a host on Saturday Night Live in September 2001, and she shared a The Little Mermaid skit with Will Ferrell, who was on the cast at that time. “Yeah, we did Saturday Night Live together,” Ferrell recalled on the red carpet premiere of the film, via Hola. “Reese came and was a wonderful host, and I just stayed out of her way.” Witherspoon added, “I was different then… People knew to stay out of my way.“
Ferrell continued, “We’re so thankful that we teamed up, or well, team up again, I don’t know… Just to get to do this together was incredible. And not only did we have a great time, but it turned out so good. And it’s so funny, I think it’s a movie that people need right now.“
