Xbox Game Pass subscribers can now play Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector, a game that has the distinction of being the highest-rated new release of 2025 so far. Xbox Game Pass has had a busy January 2025. While there weren’t a lot of new games added to Game Pass at the beginning of the month, the second half of January 2025 has been hectic.

The new Xbox Game Pass games in the second half of January 2025 have included a variety of day one releases, including action-RPG Eternal Strands and historical stealth/shooter game Sniper Elite: Resistance. Now Xbox Game Pass is ending the month with the addition of yet another brand-new, day one game, and this one is especially exciting because it’s the highest-rated new release of the year so far.

As of January 31, Xbox Game Pass subscribers can play Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector with their subscription as long as they are signed up for either PC Game Pass or the Ultimate tier of Xbox Game Pass on consoles. Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector is a critically-acclaimed, narrative-driven RPG that has earned rave reviews from critics. While there’s still time for its review score to fluctuate, Citizen Sleeper 2 currently has an impressive 85 overall rating according to review aggregate site OpenCritic. This makes Citizen Sleeper 2‘s highest-rated new game of 2025 to date, though it remains to be seen how long it will be able to hold on to that title.

• Far Cry New Dawn – February 4
• Avowed – February 18

There are some truly heavy hitters launching in February 2025 that could potentially knock Citizen Sleeper 2 off its throne. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Civilization 7, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, and Monster Hunter Wilds are all on deck for February 2025. There’s also the day one Xbox Game Pass game Avowed launching in February, with all these games and other titles dropping soon having the potential to be highly-rated games as well.

That’s not to take anything away from Citizen Sleeper 2. The Citizen Sleeper 2 reviews are impressive and confirm that fans of the first game should definitely be sure to check it out. As it so happens, the original Citizen Sleeper is currently on Xbox Game Pass as well, so subscribers can play through both games. Whereas Citizen Sleeper 2 is currently exclusive to the Ultimate tier, the original Citizen Sleeper is playable for all Game Pass subscribers.
