Did you recognize the dancing Deadpool alongside host Conan O’Brien at the Oscars on Sunday? Fans of Deadpool & Wolverine undoubtedly did, as the dancing version of Ryan Reynolds‘ character, Dancepool, brought his moves to the stage alongside Conan O’Brien, as the night’s host sang a tune about how he wouldn’t waste the audience’s time.

Nick Pauley, the man behind the mask — well, the one who memorably busts a move to NSYNC‘s “Bye Bye Bye” in the opening of the 2024 movie that stars Reynolds and Hugh Jackman — shared moments from his adventure on social media.

The clip of his final seconds before walking out in front of the cameras showed him sharing a fist bump with Iron Man alum Robert Downey Jr. Watch the moment below.

Pauley wrote that his “feeble little heart was pounding,” but he didn’t look it once he joined the performers onstage at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood in Los Angeles, as he moved confidently and in the audacious manner that Deadpool does.

“Is this real life?” Pauley asked on Instagram. “Im in shock rn sooo long post coming soon.”

In another post, Pauley gave a shoutout to Reynolds for his support.

“A literal dream come true,” he called his Oscars cameo. “Thank you @vancityreynolds ; who loved the idea of “Dancepool at the Oscars” I mean, the REAL DEADPOOL approving my silly (insanely elaborate and complicated) idea?!?! Pinch me… & Not only that!! you advocated for OG Dancepool. Thats f—ing awesome and i love you for that andddd I love you. Is it too soon for the L word? I hope not! oop— im crying again. Sigh… Sorry yall ill probably never shut up about this.”

Reynolds gave his own thank you to Pauley back in July after Deadpool’s choreography made the rounds on social media.

“There’s the moments where there’s a bit of a pop and lock,” Reynolds said at a news conference, according to With Ashley and Company. “Except the pop really pops, like it cracks, and the lock will not unlock — so yeah, I would do anything I could to free myself up. I will hang [my hat] on Nick Pauley’s talent and thank him for his contribution and services.”

At the time, Pauley called playing Dancepool “the greatest honor of my life.”
