How to Watch Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Episode 1 For Free

Disney has made the first episode of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man accessible to everyone for free.

Trammell took to Instagram and shared artwork featuring Gwen Stacy and Spider-Gwen. “The Neighborhood just got a little more Friendly. See you next season!” Trammell captioned the post. The first photo features Gwen rocking her blonde hair and wearing a pink turtleneck top underneath a blue jacket paired with black tights and a tartan pleated skirt. She also wears a pair of purple shoes. The second snap also features Gwen in her white suit as Spider-Gwen with black and pink accents. The post is a confirmation that Gwen will be joining Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2.

Trammell’s post immediately received thousands of likes from fans. However, they hoped that this time, the beloved character would not die. “Please don’t snap her neck this time,” one commented. Another added, “If she’s well written and Peter and her end up together without either dying, you’ll have made the best Spider-Man media PERIOD.” Several also said they wanted Gwen in the series. However, they were not on board with the addition of Spider-Gwen. “Add Gwen but no Spider-Gwen please I need a grounded street-level story,” a different fan wrote. Another user shared the same sentiment and even criticized Spider-Gwen’s costume. “I would be so happy if it was just Gwen, but her being spider Gwen?? Nah, plus the suit is a Big L,” the user said. Apparently, Gwen is welcome in the franchise for fans, but they do not want to have Spider-Gwen because they want the show to focus on Spider-Man.

The addition of Gwen Stacy in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2 will surely make the show even better because it can introduce new dynamics, conflicts and emotional depth to the series. Gwen is one of the characters with the most important relationship with Peter Parker in the Spider-Man lore. She is his close friend and romantic interest. However, her arrival could shake up Peter’s relationship with Norman Osborn, as the latter serves as the former’s mentor. She could start as a rival at Oscorp or challenge Peter’s trust in Norman.

If Gwen becomes Spider-Gwen, as Trammell seemingly teases in his post, it could also create an exciting contrast between her and Peter. She might not share his philosophy as a superhero, and this could lead to disagreements or rivalries. However, introducing Spider-Gwen could also hint at larger connections to other Spider-People, leading to multiversal elements. This is the reason why many want Gwen but not Spider-Gwen: because they want the series to be on the street level. This is understandable because fans have been overexposed to the multiversal Spider-Man from the MCU. A street-level Spider-Man is relatable, has emotional stakes and delivers the classic Spider-Man feel. It highlights Peter’s personal life and makes him one of the most grounded superheroes.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man streams on Disney Plus.
